Pink Day Celebrations

🎉June 23 marks National Pink Day!🎉

First, the unexpected: Pink Day is a holiday of unknown origin. The color pink, however, has inspired a bunch of other celebrations:

♥ Pink Shirt Day (or Anti-bullying Day) on February 23

This celebration is held against any type of bullying. It started in Canada in 2007 after a ninth-grade gay student was bullied after wearing a pink polo shirt on the first day of school. On the next day, two fellow students got everyone at the school to wear pink as a gesture of support.

♥ International Day Of Pink on April 13

This was also inspired by the bullying event in Canada. It is a worldwide anti-bullying and anti-homophobia event held annually during the second week of April. Though similar to Pink Shirt Day (held in February) in that it also seeks to end all bullying, the Day of Pink is more specifically aimed toward anti-LGBTQ+ bullying.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month (called Pink October in some places) is an annual international health campaign organized by major breast cancer charities. Every October, they help increase awareness of the disease and raise funds for research. The Pink Ribbon is a symbol of the campaign.

National Pink Day 2022 can inspire you to create a more kind, inclusive world by raising awareness and funds for anti-bullying initiatives. Along with those similar initiatives, pink is also the symbol of a well-known effort.

About The Color Pink

Today, the color pink is seen as a more feminine color – although more and more men are incorporating the color into their wardrobes. However, it has not always been that way.

Up until the mid-19th century, all small children were dressed in white. Then, pastel colors became the trend. They were not, however, restricted according to gender: all children would wear shades of pastel blue, green, yellow, and pink.

Pink For Boys Or Girls?

In the early 20th century, some magazines started to determine colors for each gender. This may come as a surprise to many: they would assign pink for boys as it was a stronger and more decided color; and blue for girls, as it was more delicate and dainty.

Pink might have been considered stronger because of a tradition related to the military of the time. British soldiers in the early 20th century wore red uniforms. As boys were then seen as small men, they would be dressed in a fainter shade of red, or pink.

This scenario changed after the 1940s when the baby boomer generation was dressed in the gender-specific colors we know today. Babies and children started to wear clothes that resembled miniature adult clothing, instead of uniform children’s dresses. Pink became the girls’ color and blue, the boys’.

This trend was held back during the 1960s and 1970s by the women’s liberation movement. In the 1980s, however, sex-oriented children’s clothing came back into fashion strongly. Some say that

It is also a color that is associated with happiness, children, and lightheartedness. Many people also believe that it is a color that conveys compassion and care.

Riding a Pink Car for Pink Day?

We see pink in clothes and accessories, but it is uncommon to see it in vehicles. Have you ever asked yourself why? The reason is, in fact, a technicality related to the pink pigment. Red hues suffer from instability so they will fade with time. If we think back to old red and brown cars we will probably remember seeing some of them in faded colors.

For that reason, pink cars are rare and exotic. They require careful maintenance and protection from the elements for them to keep their color. Some of the most popular pink cars are Pink Limousines, and you can have one to go around on Pink Day! Their unique color guarantees that they will stand out in a crowd–or in traffic.
