You can do this after you are finished packing the smaller items. This technique is great for sweaters.
• Get the air out: the more “fluffy” a fabric is, the more air it holds within its fibers. So, if you manage to remove this extra air, the piece will end up way smaller. You can achieve that with special bags and a vacuum cleaner. The technique consists in placing your bulky garment inside these plastic bags and sucking the air out using the back of your vacuum cleaner.
